Winners of “The Wedding Bashers” – a new wedding show – aired on South Africa’s DSTV channel, M-Net 101, was announced on the season finale on Sunday 3, 2017.

The series made its debut on September 17, 2017.

Twenty-two weddings later, Taryn and Franco Habib, walked away with the first prize, as their Lebanese-Portuguese inspired wedding at a trendy inner-city rooftop venue in Jozi obtained the best overall score.

The couple has won the ultimate prize – business class tickets sponsored by Air Seychelles for a seven nights’ second honeymoon in the idyllic Seychelles islands, onboard a fully crewed yacht, sponsored by The Moorings, alongside other great prizes.

Isla Moffet from Air Seychelles and Bianca Morais from the Moorings presented the ecstatic couple with the grand prize.

The Seychelles Tourism Board office in South Africa, which joined in consultations with the producers during the planning phase of the reality TV show got Air Seychelles and The Moorings to come onboard as the main headline sponsors, and offer an exceptional portion of the grand prize.

Aside of the second honeymoon experience in Seychelles, the winning couple has received a monetary prize of R250 000 (South African Rand) in cash from M-Net, R100 000 worth of jewelry from Jack Friedman, as well as R100 000 worth of cosmetics from Essence, Caribbean Tan, Lov and Catrice cosmetics.

The Wedding Bashers was divided into a 13-part light-hearted, tongue in cheek series focused on local weddings, embarking viewers on a discovery of what happens when South Africans of all backgrounds, cultures, and religions, open up their special days to what M-Net has described as a quirky wedding show.

The Wedding Bashers is produced by [sic] Entertainment and was broadcast on M-Net channel 101 every Sunday night at 17:00.

The series documented an all-star team of four South African celebrities also referred to as ‘the squad’ — consisting of former Miss South Africa — Cindy Nell, Vuzu star –Denise Zimba, international TV chef — Siba Mtongana and top wedding planner — Zavion Kotze, who attended all 22 weddings.

As they joined in the festivities, they also discreetly judged each one on five key criteria – fashion and beauty, décor, food, entertainment and overall experience.

The season finale also announced the viewer’s choice, which saw Kylé and Mark Steyn win the votes of the South African audience, with their intimate wedding in Western Cape’s fishing village of Paternoster.

The Director of Seychelles Tourism Board’s office in Johannesburg, Lena Hoareau, presented the couple with their prize – a 5-night second honeymoon in Seychelles again sponsored by Air Seychelles and The Moorings.

The four other couples that made it into the top five include Zinhle and Sibonele with their traditional Zulu wedding, Carl and Tamara with their 5-star Ravos Rail wedding, Rianda and Dewald — the DIY enthusiasts from Potchefstroom, and Nicollete and Hermish from Kwazulu-Natal with their Indian-inspired celebration.
