A group of high-level Vanilla Islands Organization officials went on a roadshow to India to call on Delhi and Mumbai.

The organization’s CEO, Mr. Pascal Viroleau, met with Indian tour operators and other leaders in the travel and tourism sector to further foster working relationships.

The Vanilla Islands joined a delegation led by the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr Alain St Ange of the Seychelles, a founding member of the organization.

Mr. Viroleau said:“There is a huge demand for the islands of the Indian Ocean in India, but direct air access to our islands from India should be improved and is often still missing. This now was brought an important step forward with Air Seychelles reopening air link between Victoria, Seychelles and India in a few month.”

Mauritius, Maldives and Reunion Island already have direct air-links with the Indian Sub-Continent and Seychelles will soon become a welcome addition. This will make multi-islands package combinations possible to include all the Vanilla Islands.

The Indian travel trade was eager to work with the islands and this was re-inforced by the Indian government under the lead of the Indian Minister of state for Tourism and Culture, Mr Shri Shripad Yesso Naik. He pledged to rally behind the Vanilla Islands Organization.

India will formally apply for the Andaman Islands to join the existing group.

This will extend the awareness of the Vanilla Islands brand and open the doors for joint marketing efforts for the common goal of increasing awareness and business to the Indian Ocean Islands.

Current Vanilla Island members are: The Comoros, the Maldives, Madagascar, Mayotte, Maurice, Reunion island and Seychelles.
