LUX* is part of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Gold Community, shaping the future of International integrated reporting Standards. In 2017, LUX* launched the GRI Standards in Mauritius in collaboration with stakeholders.

Each LUX* property is linked to concrete environmental and social projects and partners, all the while committing to efficient resource use.

LUX* Sustainability Committee

The Sustainability Committee works in concert on the Group’s triple bottom line focused projects, ensuring a certain degree of standardization across the company, all while respecting the specificities of the various destinations. The committee shares support for each other, preparing together for audits via web conference and in person meetings, sharing best practices and ideas. The committee under the aegis of the Group Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Ms. Vishnee Sowamber consists mainly of Quality Assurance and Training Managers, already deeply enthusiastic about sustainable development. Their commitment and relentless on-site support ensures progress on all sustainability aspects and their Ray of Light motivates those around them.

Maorisy

In Mauritius, LUX* and the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation distribute 1,200 endemic plants to team members, the local community, schools, NGOs and stakeholders. In addition, LUX* Corporate & Resorts has joined forces with UNDP GEF and FORENA to plant 140 endemic plants at a historical site in the city of Port Louis. LUX* also supports coral farming in the Blue Bay area to preserve the diverse marine life.

Nosy La Réunion

LUX* Saint Gilles and Hôtel Le Récif support the NGO, ReefCheck France, financially to promote their ROUTE DU CORAIL© project which operates two stations that support the sustainable development of the reef and its ecosystem. LUX* Saint Gilles also hosts the Reserve Marine de La Reunion to educate guests and team members about aquatic fauna and flora conservation.

Maldives

LUX* South Ari Atoll (Maldives) is equipped with an on-site Marine Biology Centre to study and protect the native whale shark population. The Marine Biologist, recognized as a specialist on whale shark protection by Maldivian authorities, educates guests on eco tours and supports ongoing scientific research.
